Sports Banquet Decoration Ideas

Skip the colored streamers and use these sports banquet decoration ideas for an unforgettable celebration.

Balloon Art

Balloons can be so much more than just floating decorations. Create a balloon collage, a photo backdrop or an archway for your event. Review the objects that are used in the sport you are celebrating and find balloons that represent them, such as a bowling ball and pins for a bowling banquet or a racquet and tennis ball for a tennis team celebration. Go beyond basics by including the team’s colors, the mascot, and using letter balloons to spell out the team’s name.

Sporty Centerpieces

Spruce up a normal floral centerpiece by filling the vase with small balls that are used in the sport. If the sport uses a bigger ball, opt for using the ball as the base with flowers on top.You can distinguish each table by using cutouts of the team’s name, mascot, a player’s jersey or common sport phrases, such as “home run.” Use ribbon, crinkle cut paper strips or confetti as a final touch.

Memory Table

Have attendees take a walk down memory lane with a table full of past experiences. A memory table can feature trophies, medals or other awards that the team and players received throughout the season. Represent the whole team (including the coach) by creating a photo board that has pictures of members in the middle of play, before or after practice and games, and at any team-building activities. This table can also be a way to honor graduating seniors through incorporating their graduation photos, using their jerseys or uniforms, or showing a picture of when they first started compared to now.

Dress up Dessert

Don’t leave your delicious desserts without a little dazzle on the table and surrounding area. Everyone loves the concession stand, so consider theming your dessert table after it! You can include items that are popular concessions, like popcorn and candy, and intermix it with other dessert items. Another idea is to make the table a mock of the environment that the sport is played on, like a faux basketball court or track. You can include ground markings and small props, like goals or nets.
