Bar/Bat Mitzvah Themes

Planning your child’s bar or bat mitzvah? Consider using a theme to tie everything together. Check out these unique ideas for inspiration!

Sports

One of your honoree’s passions may be a sport they play or one they love to watch. Use their soirée as an opportunity to show off any awards or trophies they may have won and photos of them playing. For parties focusing on sports they watch, consider showing a highlight reel of their favorite teams and players on a big screen.

Game Night

A theme that also gives way to entertainment throughout the event is a great option, especially when teenagers are involved. Choose one board or video game to highlight, or decorate different areas of the room to fit a variety of games. Have multiple areas available for attendees to play and award prizes to the winners.

Travel Destinations

If you have a traveler on your hands, treat them to a party that features their favorite place, a location on their bucket list or different destinations around the world. Along with including flags and props of famous landmarks, serve food that corresponds with the place. Plus, don’t forget a photo area where people can take postcard-like photos.

Favorite movie/book

Whether they’re a Harry Potter, Marvel or To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before fan, pull iconic elements to include in decorations, food and attire. If you’re focusing on a movie, consider playing it on a projector throughout the event or at the end so everyone can watch. For books, you can use some of the pages for ceiling decorations or as confetti.

Music Festival

Music lovers will appreciate a festival bar or bat mitzvah. Include guest passes or wristbands in the invitations and temporary tattoos for them to wear on the day of. At the event, dim the lights and pass out glow sticks for everyone to use while they dance to a playlist of the honoree’s favorite songs.
