2021 Wedding Trends
Undoubtedly 2020 brought struggles and changes for engaged couples. Due to postponements, 2021 will be a popular year for weddings, and we expect to see these trends for Michigan weddings.
Intimate Weddings
COVID popularized intimate celebrations and with many restrictions still in effect, this trend will continue into this year. Couples that seek to feel more connected to their guests in a relaxed atmosphere will opt for quaint soirees. Known as “micro weddings,” these events can be more affordable and less stressful for couples to plan (a relief when faced with rescheduling). The Iroquois Club is proud to offer full-service capabilities that can accommodate small-scale weddings starting at 25 guests.
Vibrant Colors
The 90s are making a comeback in more than just fashion — bold, colorful weddings will be all the rage in 2021. Brides will be looking for opportunities to use fun, bright and happy colors instead of classic white. This pop of color and the use of contemporary elements will be seen in stationery, decor, foods and more.
Sentimental and Elaborate Tabletops
With shorter guest lists, it will be easier for couples to be intentional in various aspects of their big day. You will see thoughtful tabletop décor and personalized touches, such as handwritten notes and name cards. Weddings that have scaled back leave the opportunity for funds to be used on things like crystal glassware, custom linens, layered china and dramatic florals. This will make 2021 events seem lavish despite their size.
Puff Sleeves
Sleeves are making a big fashion statement in 2021. Recent runaways have been featuring puff sleeves which means you’ll definitely see them in bridal gowns this year. Styles will include smaller-cap sleeves, romantic bishop sleeves and full-length billowing designs. If you’re looking to stay on trend but rock a modest style, consider pairing a slim silhouette and simple accessories with your puff sleeves.
Little Cakes
Go big or go home is being thrown out the window when it comes to wedding cakes this year. Along with keeping things COVID-friendly, mini personal cakes are perfect for distributing to individual place settings or sending home with guests to enjoy later. Single-tier cakes will also be prevalent in 2021. But don’t worry, little cakes can still pack a punch with intricate patterns and striking flowers.
