Wedding Beauty Tips

A picture is worth a thousand words.  And if you’re like most married people, you’ll have at least a thousand pictures from your wedding.  So, you do the math. With so much photographic evidence of the best day of your life, you want to make sure you look and feel your best on your big day. We’re sharing some of our holy-grail beauty tips to get you camera-ready for your wedding.

Regular Manicures

After you announce your engagement, everyone will want to admire your ring. This means you’ll need your nails to look decent most, if not all, of the time. Not only will a manicure make your ring pop, but this type of self care can double as a stress reliever during wedding planning.

Get Active

This isn’t a traditional beauty tip, but as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde said, “Exercise gives you endorphins, and endorphins make you happy,” and you will definitely want to create a glow from within. You don’t need to go crazy and hire a personal trainer to work out seven days a week (but if that’s your thing, do you!), but there are plenty of work out classes and apps you can follow to add a little extra fitness to your routine. Working out will also boost your confidence, and ease any anxiety and stress! Being fit, confident and relaxed will create the recipe for the perfect wedding day.

Research

When looking for the people who will be doing your makeup and hair for your wedding, it’s important to do your research. You will want someone who is experienced with weddings and can provide references. After you’ve found the right people, don’t forget to also research makeup looks and hair styles. Be sure to keep in mind your dress, your venue (like if you’re planning on being outside for an extended period of time) and anything else that might affect makeup and hair.

Set a Makeup and Hair Trial

This is pretty standard, but you’ll want to do a makeup and hair trial in the months leading up to your big day. This is how you’ll decide on the final look and make sure everything looks right. You might want to consider having both done on the same day so everything is balanced (it’s harder to determine if you love your hair if you are bare faced and vice versa). This trial should also take different lighting into account to make sure your makeup isn’t too subtle or too harsh.

Treat Yo’ Self

You may think a bunch of beauty treatments before the wedding are necessary, but the main reason you should get them is because you totally deserve them. Splurge on a few facials, massages, spray tans and waxes. But be warned: no NEW treatments should be implemented too close to the wedding date in case you have an adverse reaction.
